So now I have a hp lappy with c formatted, one cd with vista recovery which is not able to do much, and no OEM recovery cds. Normally Windows 7 boots as shown below: BIOS loads 1st sector from HDD (Master Boot Record), verifies 55 AA signature and transfers control to Master Boot Record. And F12 - Boot menu! After being able to install windows xp, we upgraded it to windows 7 because its been so long since ive worked with xp i couldnt remember how to use it. If the wrong drive is listed first, you could see BOOTMGR errors.I know I sort of hit on this in the troubleshooting step above, but I wanted to call out specifically Can anyone shed any light on what i should do please? The Presario recovery partition D seemed intact and shows healthy in diskpart.
