Can you help me? Everything worked fine on this machine, except Windows Update (and hence MSE update). I usually start by clearing out %windir%\SoftwareDistribution. Seems to fix a lot. I ran the recovery utility (installed as part of the factory image recoverey) from a separate partition on the Hard Drive to create a Minimal windows install.

After hours of trying everything else under the sun that I came across (short of a full re-installation), this is the ONLY thing that has allowed me to resume updates on So, if anyone could give me an idea of what I need to fix, to allow my computer to allow updates would be great. However, I had deleted all the update records before applying that patch in Windows\SoftwareDistribution before applying that patch and all worked perfectly again.
